I am a big fan of profiteroles. In my home country (Turkey) we have adopted them as a national dessert. We even have dessert shops that only sell profiteroles and it is often delicious. I have been living in the UK for three years now, I ate the abomination that the restaurants and patisseries in the UK call profiteroles many times, in everywhere I go where it is available, from the posh French restaurants to the Sainsbury's and every freaking time I was disappointed and even frustrated. There are two types of profiteroles in the UK: (1) Filled with vanilla ice cream that you may find in decent restaurants and chains like the ASK Italian and; (2) Filled with fresh cream that you may find in patisseries and supermarkets. The chocolate sauce is usually good, but the inside, is just wrong. So this is a cry for help from a profiteroles enthusiast to the people who have grown a similar hatred to the abomination that the restaurants and shops in the UK call profiterol...

Last week, Istanbul has experienced a summer day in the middle of February, with a temperature around 20 Degrees Celsius and a clear blue sky. In those days, it is a good option to enjoy the view from the many rooftops of Istanbul, where you can experience the great views of the city in relative immunity from the hustle below.
